Sounds too digital to me on high gains but maybe in a mix and supplemented with an analog track it might work. Their other alternative comes from the signature Chris Lord Alge line of DSP plugins, called CLA guitars. Gtr3, uh, it's okay, but I'm comparing it to analog (sm57, v30s, evh and Orange tube heads). My Review: One of the oldest players in the VST game, Waves has been at the fore-front of DSP technology, and their guitar simulation plugin called GTR3 is well-known for its solid performance and frugal CPU usage. Add a touch of delay, some reverb, and the sound is amazing and alive. I just bought gtr3 instead of spending serious coin on a mesa head. Put your own compressor and gate in front of it, maybe turn off the post-amp filter in Destructor and add your own cab sims, such as Recabinet, Rosen IRs, and so on. IMHO, it's head and shoulders above any other sim I've tried. Not bragging about the deal, just saying that, if you're patient, deals do come around.Īll that said, I'm having a serious love affair with Blue Cat's new Destructor. The Waves Ground Controller is an amazing foot controller for the Waves Guitar Tool Rack System or other hardware and software. Whether you're laying down tracks in the studio or live onstage, GTR3 is the only guitar processor you'll ever need.

That's why GTR3 has to sound indistinguishable from the originals. I've reviewed a number of Waves products over the years, and in the case of GTR Ground, I'm experiencing a feeling I've never had before: I'm a bit underwhelmed. Waves makes the tools of choice for the world's most demanding sound experts: Grammy-winning Multi-Platinum producers, engineers, and artists.
#Waves gtr3 review for mac
For Mac users GTR interface is a bit more convenient, as every Mac computer has a decent built-in audio interface with CoreAudio drivers that are designed. The most typical setup is GTR > computer audio interface > guitar plugins.

Unlike with a lot of devs, their coupons can be applied to upgrades. And although GTR3's onscreen tuner is very nice, it's a shame there's no visual feedback on the Ground unit that would allow you to tune without looking at the screen. It's meant to be used with Waves GTR3 guitar amp modeling software but can be used with any other software as well.

I got GTR3 Solo for $18 originally, then upgraded to full GTR3 for $12 when Waves handed out a $30 coupon. 525 (4.5 / 5) Seit 1992 konzipiert und programmiert die israelische Softwareschmiede Waves Plugins und hat sich über die Jahre zu einer der wegweisenden Firmen auf diesem Gebiet entwickelt. If you want it, I agree with the advice about waiting for a better price for it. Waves GTR3 Software Edition review MusicRada.

I own way too many guitar sims, and pretty much standardized on GTR3 and CLA Guitars, especially for smooth high-gain tones.
